Who is BIG?

BIG Profile
The Brain Injury Group (BIG) is a Calgary-based coalition of non-profit agencies committed to providing the support and rehabilitation services survivors of acquired brain injury need to adapt to or relearn lost skills.
BIG agencies help brain injury survivors rebuild the daily skills they need to live as independently as possible. Since this can take months or years, many brain injury survivors need lengthy or lifelong support and rehabilitation to progress and manage the growing number of issues that arise as they move out into the world. In addition, we provide the emotional and physical support required to maintain the strong network of friends and family critical to survivors’ rehabilitation and reintegration into their communities.
Daily Operations
Each agency operates independently but works co-operatively with other BIG organizations to maximize resources and eliminate duplication. Together, BIG agencies provide the full spectrum of services required to address the mental, physical, emotional, social and communication issues faced by survivors of all levels of acquired brain injury.
Working Together
BIG member agencies are pioneers in the development and delivery of community-based support and rehabilitation for survivors of acquired brain injury. About 85-90 per cent of each agency’s budget is spent on programs and services for brain injury survivors.
